Thermostat zigbee

Hello @AlexTrovato and Merry Christmas.

Can I buy this type of Zigbee thermostat to control the temperature setpoint directly from Gladys?

Additional question: Are all Zigbee devices compatible with Zigbee2MQTT?

Thanks in advance.

You need to check on the Zigbee2Mqtt supported devices page if your thermostat is supported.

No, not all are, but it’s evolving very quickly and there is a guide explaining how to make a support request.
The advantage of Zigbee is that it’s an open protocol. So everything is compatible by default in theory, but you need to know how to read and control the device, hence the need for « compatibility » with the Zigbee2Mqtt project.

Last point to consider: Just because it’s compatible with Zigbee2Mqtt doesn’t mean it will be with Gladys, for several reasons:

  1. Sometimes Gladys doesn’t yet manage the type or doesn’t yet offer the tools to control it (like thermostats for example)
  2. Gladys’s Zigbee service has improved a lot and supports almost everything that Zigbee2Mqtt supports by default, except for exceptions as described in point 1.

Example: My Zigbee thermostatic heads are not yet managed by Gladys, which only sees two actuators corresponding to « head lock » and « open window detection ».
For the moment, I use NodeRed and the Zigbee2Mqtt interface directly to manage them.

Sorry, but the conclusion is that it may be yes, it may be no

Thanks @lmilcent for your feedback.

This thermostat is not yet part of the list, unless I’m mistaken, I had checked.

But with the latest PR from @AlexTrovato, I have a small hope of seeing it work with Gladys very soon, I think I will therefore order it for testing and advance the integration in Gladys.

I just repeat my question to clarify it: can all Zigbee devices be controlled using the zigbee2mqtt interface? (with or without Gladys)

Any equipment supported by Zigbee2mqtt can be controlled via its web interface, yes.
If it is not yet supported, no.

But for your thermostat, sometimes there are surprises when you add it to Z2M, and it is eventually recognized. At worst, you can follow their tutorial to request support for your device.
