Access Gladys on Android smartphone

Before version 5.3

I couldn’t open a User account for my daughter, email: xxxxxxx@gmail.com…

It doesn’t seem to recognize the email address, yet it exists…

Reason: Incorrect email/password.

Same for my wife: yyyyyyy@orange.fr

Whether I make them admin or user…

However, mine works fine: jpjpjpj@orange.fr.

Particularity: all three from Android smartphones.

When I run it on a Windows PC, no issues.

Pierre-Gilles’ response:

Thanks for your feedback, and well spotted for the phone/PC difference: that’s exactly it. On Android, the keyboard automatically capitalizes the first letter of the email address, and Gladys didn’t recognize the address in this case.

Until the next update, you can log in from your phone by checking that the address is typed all in lowercase (no space at the end).

The fix is done and will arrive in the next version of Gladys.

Version 5.3 is in place without the corrective effect and now on PC, only my admin user can access it, whereas before the other two worked on PC.

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback. The fix (capitalization and trailing space) is indeed part of version 5.3: the entered address is now converted to lowercase and stripped of spaces before being compared to the stored one.

The fact that it no longer works on PC for your daughter and wife makes me think that their address was registered with a trailing space when the account was created. Before, it worked on PC because the input matched exactly. Now, Gladys removes the space on login, so the address no longer matches.

You can try this from your admin account:

  1. Go to Settings > Users and edit each affected account.
  2. Re-enter the email address properly (without spaces) and reset the password.
  3. Save, then try logging in with these accounts, first on PC and then on Android.

If it still doesn’t work, let us know:

  • the exact error message;
  • whether you are logging in locally (box IP) or via Gladys Plus;
  • the container logs at the time of the attempt (Settings → System → Download logs).
