Help finding an RTSP-compatible video intercom

Hello everyone, I would like some information. I am looking for a connected video intercom with the ability to retrieve the video stream via RTSP.
Do you have any? If so, which models? Thank you very much for your help

Hello Spenceur,

Any news? Were you able to do a comparison? Have you made a choice?
Where are you in your search for a video intercom?

Hello! I admit I’m waiting for replies. I haven’t found any « hack » project that’s still relevant or any all-in-one video-conferencing solution.
Do you have any leads?

Hi,
Isn’t there something going on in the March 2024 thread that might interest you?

Integration of Netatmo Indoor Camera features

If I’m not mistaken, the Netatmo is wired — I need something wireless for this.
Thanks for the link in any case

I’m thinking of going with the Aqara G410
I find the brand good even though I don’t have any feedback on the cameras and video intercom… According to the product page, it seems to do the job…

Any opinions?

I think it’s a good choice, but be aware the RTSP stream is only available if you’re on a wired connection (according to the website)

I had understood that it was the SD card recording that required the wired connection…

Personally, I can bring the power (drilling through the wall), but for the network it will have to be wireless…

I see this on the site, but it may not be correct

When we talk about a wired connection… Are we talking about a communication connection or an electrical connection?

It’s for communication

Connectivity protocol

Zigbee / Thread IEEE 802.15.4 (acts as a mesh extender), Wi‑Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/a/ac 2.4/5 GHz, Bluetooth

No wired communication in what’s listed (to my knowledge)
The only wired « ports » I see:

  • USB A/USB C: power for the indoor unit
  • 2 wires on the outdoor unit: power for the outdoor unit

So to summarize, you need to plug the indoor unit’s power (within 20 m of the box/switch and within 5 m of the outdoor unit) into USB C and add a power supply (12–24V AC or 8–24V DC) for the outdoor unit (if you want RTSP)… But there are no other wires…
Am I wrong?

I didn’t look at the docs at all, if there’s no Ethernet port then the wired one is for power.

According to some review articles, they indicate you simply need to power it via a wired connection to get the RTSP stream.
It looks like an interesting device.
And there’s a 20% promotion on Amazon with the code AQARA410

Let us know if you take it and integrate it into Gladys

It’s ordered… (especially with Dahut’s discount… Thanks)
I’ll see when I can install it (my Gladys isn’t running at the moment)…

Hi,
I bought the Aqara G410, I tried to connect it to Gladys via Matter but I don’t see it in the « Devices » view; however I do see something in « Settings »

I’ve hidden some info, I don’t know if that’s necessary but you never know

And yes, I confirm that you have to connect it via wired connection to access the RTSP streams, which is a bit annoying for a doorbell that’s placed outdoors..

@Nagromdark You could download the file « Download Matter Nodes as JSON » and create a feature request with that file to integrate the features of this Aqara G410

I’ll look into it after my vacation!

Hi @pierre-gilles ,

OK I’ll file a feature request.

However I managed to integrate some data; it’s a bit hacky.
In fact in the Aqara app you have to « export » signals into the Matter ecosystem — I shared four: « Loiterer », « Doorbell », « Unknown face » and « Low battery ». They then appear correctly in the Matter devices list (1 device per feature):

Which results on the dashboard:

Let’s say for now it’s not great and it only works one way! doorbell => galdys

Hopefully with the JSON we can do more, however it seems complicated to do without the Aqara app for the moment because I understand Matter doesn’t handle video at the moment

If anyone wants more info on the g410 I can provide it

Excellent, it’s still amazing, Matter ! All of this works without us even having to develop extra compatibility layers, simply because we follow the same standard.

From what I read, it’s coming — video streams in Matter
And with the RTSP stream, you should already be able to see the live feed in Gladys, right?

Ok I’ll make a feature request.
