Galdys / IKEA Dirigera / Zigbee Module: uh... how do I get started?

Hello,

I plan to control the heating in my playroom via Gladys.
Not having found a pilot wire module in Matter/Thread, I resigned myself to using Zigbee, so I got a Nodon Zigbee 3.0, my IKEA DIRIGERA being capable of handling Zigbee if I understand correctly.

So now I have everything:

  • My DIRIGERA bridge configured in Gladys
  • my NODON module

Upon installation the NODON module was automatically connected to my network without any action on my part.
In the IKEA app I don’t see the pilot wire module (IKEA Home Smart doesn’t support heaters)

In Gladys, in Matter I do have a new device but I only have 2 functions: Switch and Index

The Index does seem to report the consumption, however the Switch has no impact on the heating

So my question is: did I miss something or will my current configuration not allow any better control?

Thanks

Greg

Hi there,

No, you didn’t miss anything. This module must not yet be fully recognized by Gladys.

Can you provide the exact model of your.module NodeOn and I’ll take a look

If it isn’t present we’ll need to make a feature request so a dev can add it.

Hello,
yes of course it’s the Nodon SIN-4-FP-21

Thank you

Ah I just realized… the module is compatible with Gladys if it is paired directly with zigbee2mqtt in Gladys. The pilot wire exposure that NodOn uses is already supported.

Here you use the IKEA gateway, and you also specify that IKEA does not handle heating, so the gateway must not return this info in Matter.

But in the case where IKEA provides the info on Matter, the pilot wire function in Matter is not yet supported in Gladys.

I can’t tell you more if this gateway provides the info.

So with a Zigbee dongle on my Gladys server, it would work, right?

Yes, that’s right.

Is there a thread on how to properly choose a Zigbee USB stick?

Or even a Zigbee+Matter stick… But in that case my IKEA gateway would no longer be used… (Not necessarily a problem, but still…)

I had shared it here: Intégrer la passerelle IKEA Dirigera Matter dans Gladys - #9 par 4get9

In the JSON, there is no device exposed as Pierre-Gilles had explained.

Could you retake screenshots now that you have paired and managed to share with Gladys and download the JSON, please?

Ah yes, indeed that was before I configured the mice.
I’ll do that tonight

Here is the config file:

Well, I bought one that seemed to be of good quality: SONOFF MG24
and I have the impression that it is not supported by Gladys

indeed, the road to home automation is really full of obstacles :sad_but_relieved_face:

well, apparently I will be able to draw inspiration from this post:

The problem mentioned in the other post will be resolved soon.

Thank you for your JSON. I’ll look at it as soon as I can.

In the JSON, your module is exposed as onoffpluginunit, therefore only as an ON/OFF switch.
We can’t find the pilot wire information exposed by your IKEA gateway.

A question that just occurred to me: which version of the Matter protocol does that dear DIRIGERA support?
In any case @4get9 I can assure you that on plain Zigbee (via an SMLIGHT adapter), this pilot-wire module works wonderfully natively in Gladys: pilot-wire control and consumption monitoring.
If you absolutely want Matter for this module, you’d need to change the Zigbee gateway and then go through matterbridge and its matterbridge-zigbee2mqtt plugin… And by the way, are pilot wires currently included in the active Matter spec?

Apparently IKEA only handles the functions used by its devices (slats, temperature, humidity, switch, …) but not things like heating

Yeah, if only my Zigbee dongle would work in Gladys… :sob:
I’m still having one problem after another…

But as we’ve told you, the fix for the problem is currently being tested and will therefore soon be deployed in Gladys.

Ah yes, no worries.
It’s very kind of you to take the time to reply to me, in any case.
