Gladys by the end of 2026: big news and an ambitious plan 🚀

I think two or three maintainers who committed to only merging/releasing an urgent fix for a blocking bug could merge. But GitHub doesn’t allow that level of granularity. So a trust contract :slightly_smiling_face:

Congratulations on this new life as a dad and my best wishes to the mom.
Enjoy this moment, time goes by so fast
And never forget (especially at night) that everything will be fine and that you eventually get used to gray hair.
Best, Tom

Congratulations Pierre-Gilles. The priorities proposed in the first post seem to be the right ones to me. The thermostat is also one of the expectations at my place

Hello Pierre-Gilles,

Congratulations to the future parents!

I wish you all the happiness in the world with the child to be born.

Marc

Hello Pierre-Gilles and all my congratulations.

This is very good news and a great adventure awaits you.

In the tasks (maybe a bit less urgent), I would have liked the energy recalculation initiated by @Terdious at the beginning of this year:

Congratulations @pierre-gilles :folded_hands: After this first beautiful baby that was Gladys, now a new adventure begins :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

For everyone interested in the thermostat, we need testers

@gaetanb76 @Herve @GBoulvin @Damien @David @b3n.0 @PhilippeMA For the Thermostat feature, we’d be happy to receive your feedback quite quickly if you want it to go live before my paternity leave  Sorry to put pressure on you, but otherwise it’ll be 2027  The ball is in your court, thanks in advance :raising_hands:

Yes, thanks in advance to the testers :folded_hands:. Given the time I’ve spent on it, I’d love to make the most of it this winter:+1:.

If you can’t test it, if you can at least give your opinion on the different implementation choices that have been made, and confirm that we’re headed in the right direction and that your expectations have been heard, that would be awesome

I have 3 FGS-224 to manage 3 radiators.

And temperature sensors.

Can I use this feature?

Currently I have thermostats with a min and max temperature and when the temperature drops below the minimum, if the thermostat is on, I trigger my Fibaro and reverse with respect to the maximum.

I’ve been following the discussions on the topic and from my side, the interface part seems perfect. As for features, I want to control several convectors via the pilot wires and especially the two Zigbee Star ring thermostats from Moes that I just ordered for the two zones of my heated floor.

I can look into setting up a test installation, but I’m not very experienced in this exercise

Quick question, do you usually rely on as many testers before deploying?

For info, there is already a PR planned to handle the pilot threads.

If requested, I can include it in there.

But in principle, it would be good to have opinions and feedback as it is still a large part of the code and even though a large part has been tested virtually or on my installation, it is always better to have feedback from other people.

@spenceur are your devices on/off or pilot wires?
If on/off then yes it’s handled otherwise for pilot wires the PR is already in the pipeline on my side.

I’ll remember that. Thanks for the next development
:joy::rofl::joy:

It’s certain, but if behind a nice interface you can’t natively manage thermostat wires, which all French heating devices have
 it’s less fun

As I said, the pilot wires are already planned in a PR.

Given the size of the development, the goal would be to have the interface functional, in terms of thermostat, scheduling management
and to see if anything has escaped our tests. If all this is OK, then the pilot wires will be added very quickly afterward. We need to take it step by step!

Hello @Will_71,

I’m following up on your message about the different control modes for the future Gladys thermostat.

Is an external setpoint control mode also being considered, in addition to relays and pilot wires?

I have a GTeO/OTEC heat pump from which I can already read several temperatures and states via Modbus TCP, with Node-RED and MQTT.

The goal would be for Gladys to send a temperature setpoint to the heat pump and retrieve its actual setpoint, while leaving the heat pump’s controller to manage the compressor, circulators, boiler backup, and EJP.

Is this compatible with the architecture of the thermostat you are developing?

Yes, it is planned to be able to connect it, for example, to an external thermostat, such as a NetAtmo or similar, or even a heat pump like yours, and let this external device manage it.
