Hi everyone! ![]()
The biggest « US » absentee from the store, according to @pierre-gilles’ ranking: Ring
Doorbells, cameras, floodlights and the Ring alarm, with its detectors.
What it does
Doorbells and cameras :
Pressing the doorbell and real-time motion (person, vehicle, or package with the Ring Protect subscription);
Camera snapshot as an image in Gladys, battery, a badge if the camera is offline;
Floodlight and Spotlight lighting and siren;- A « Ring Doorbell » widget: last snapshot, last press, last motion, and the right buttons.
Ring Alarm :
- Alarm mode (disarmed, partial, total), read-only by default: you can allow its control in the configuration;
- Detectors: opening, motion, flood and freeze, water leak, smoke, CO, plus tampering and battery when the sensor reports them.
The cool thing
Someone rings → the snapshot arrives on the phone, and the entrance lights turn on
Water leak detected → immediate alert, before the kitchen becomes a pool
Alarm in total mode → everything turns off in the house
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
- In Gladys: Integrations → Ring → Install.
- Log in with your Ring email and password, then enter the two-factor authentication code received, directly from the configuration page. For the geekiest, a
ring-auth-clitoken also works. - Discovery tab to add your devices.
The connection token renews itself, no need to log in every four mornings.
Honest small reservations: no live video, it depends on the Ring cloud, and the keypad, base station, locks, and glass break detectors are not yet supported. And smoke/CO in Gladys is an extra comfort, not a standalone security system ![]()
Developed without the hardware: I don’t have a Ring. Everything is tested on anonymized real data, but I eagerly await your feedback.
Like the previous ones, it is developed with Claude Code
. Independent project, not affiliated with Ring or Amazon.
