Small screenshot of one of the Raspbian image download servers, itâs heating up in terms of bandwidth, itâs cool! Itâs downloading fast ![]()
@Mec_de_nina there is a v4 topic on the forum where we talk about it:
I followed the instructions in this post to clean everything up: https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-remove-docker-images-containers-volumes-and-networks/
Then I reinstalled docker « from scratch » without any issues.
However, for some reason I canât figure out, after creating an account, I canât log back in. My password is not recognized. Are certain characters causing issues? The « forget password » feature redirects to the logs; I need to find them, thereâs something Iâm missing. Too bad because otherwise the process is super smooth.
docker logs gladys
I know about the reset password, unfortunately we donât have much choice, there is no other way to securely pass the link to the user for someone who just set up Gladys⊠we thought about Telegram but you still need to have it configured!
For me, thatâs fine, it remains secure since itâs a local link accessible in the Docker logs (locally as well). Itâs just that I didnât understand which logs were being referred to (I hadnât thought about Docker, Iâm a novice with Docker) and I couldnât find the answer in the documentation or the forum.
Thanks @pierre-gilles
Iâll take advantage of this, but I logged into my Gladys Plus account in the Docker instance. However, I noticed that I can no longer log in to Gladys Assistant (in another window)⊠is this normal? The error returned on Gladys Plus is « Your user is not accepted locally, please go back to your Gladys instance and allow access to this user in settings. »
If you delete the volumes, you delete the data, so you have to start all over again like a new installation from scratch.
Yes, you need to go to your Gladys instance and go to « Settings » => « Gladys Plus » and you must validate the new private key of your local Gladys user. This ensures that end-to-end encrypted communications are indeed from you ![]()
Sorry for the noob questions ![]()
Deployment on Docker is ultra smooth. My Hue lights were all recognized without any issues. Itâs really great. Kudos again for this launch.
Good to know, thanks. In this case, I did indeed start from scratch, but I will have to be more careful in the future.
You do not use volumes by default
Hello everyone!
Some news about the launch. Iâve received a lot of positive feedback about the product and I wanted to share it with you.
People appreciate the simplicity of Gladys v4, the design of the interface, and the overall product experience.
The mantra we adopted « We do few things but what we do, we do well » has really been felt. Iâm not joking, itâs really what has been felt!
In home automation, many products (including Gladys v3) make the choice of an « extreme modularity » policy: everything is possible, there are buttons everywhere, options everywhere. Everything is done so that the software makes no divisive choices and leaves everything up to the user.
While this may seem like the right solution in the short term, it creates huge problems in the long term: stability (because everything has to be managed), overall coherence (because everything has to be designed, it ends up breaking and making an overloaded interface), and above all understanding of the product: everything has to be documented, and the product is not usable without the help of an army of experts.
You may have noticed, compared to a Gladys v3 launch, there are really fewer messages on the forum, apart from simple download issues, Raspbian image cloning, or other things.
Why? Because it works well and most people get by without having to ask questions! The product is simple and clear to use, even without documentation, and if needed, there are well-written tutorials on the site.
Well, I still got feedback on small things to improve, but itâs really small UX issues and possible evolutions. I will share this feedback on the topics specific to each integration!
Once again, a big congratulations to everyone! The coming months are really going to be interesting ![]()
Just for info on the raspbian image, Gladys is a Docker container
Iâll keep going with the stats!
The site has received quite a few visits, with an extremely low bounce rate of 8.22% (the bounce rate is the rate of visitors who arrive on the site and leave directly without visiting other pages. 8% is very, very low)
These users are mostly new, so itâs a new audience that we welcome to the community ![]()
As for downloads, the download servers are sometimes very busy, which is great!
210 Mb/s in outbound downloads, I know some people who have good fiber and are pulling well! ![]()
Iâll do a quick update on the number of instances running in the following days.
I have a strange behavior:
The start button on the scenes page does not work.
I have to edit the scene to be able to click on start. And then, my scene works.
Is this normal?
Did I forget to do something?
No, this is not normal. Do you have this bug with any scene?
Iâve done 4 and I have the same problem.
Has anyone tested it?
@Tlse-vins Okay, I have the same bug. It must be a side effect of recent development because it was working before.
This should be easy to fix, Iâve made a GitHub issue:
Thatâs what I thought.
Hello everyone!
I take this opportunity to make a small call to the developer, we are looking for developers who want to give a hand on integrations:
@Tlse-vins bug of the start scene button fixed in https://github.com/GladysAssistant/Gladys/commit/cedf1984b49242f49cbcf63e01e69ef663dc772d
Hello,
I am a developer, I have some time to help, because I find the idea super, however since I have never done this type of task and I donât know the technology, I donât know if I will be useful
. But I can take some time to train if I know what to do ^^.
Thatâs all.
If I canât, I will support by paying Gladys more that will already be something
.
