Spanish translation for the main website (or elsewhere)

Make sure @pierre-gilles is OK with adding Spanish first.

Thanks for the proposal! To fully support Spanish, there are two tasks:

  1. The Gladys product (repo: GitHub - GladysAssistant/Gladys: A privacy-first, open-source home assistant · GitHub). This is the simplest: just translate the translation files (front/src/config/i18n/). I would start there, as it’s what users see every day, and it’s already a real contribution in itself: today, German is supported in the product but not on the website, and it works very well like that.
  2. The website (repo: GitHub - GladysAssistant/v4-website: Gladys Assistant website · GitHub). A bit more complex, as the site contains screenshots of the product in the visitor’s language. So the product must be translated first, then all the screenshots must be redone in Spanish. I recently did this: even by delegating it to Claude, it represents about 3 hours of work and quite a few tokens :joy: But nothing impossible!

In any case, in the era of AI, please don’t do this manually :smiley: The idea is to run a Claude (or equivalent) on these files, then check that the result looks good in the interface and on the website. That’s where you are valuable: a native speaker who reads and corrects the phrasing is something AI can’t replace.

If you’re up for being the Spanish locale reference, it would be a pleasure, and we’re happy to accept PRs on the subject!

Just wanted to update this thread: I’ve submitted a pull request adding a full Spanish translation for the Gladys Assistant product (the web app UI and the assistant’s chat/voice replies).

This PR only covers the app itself. It does not include the documentation site or the main marketing website: those would need separate translation efforts.

Feedback on the translations (phrasing, regional variants, anything that sounds off) is very welcome. I tried to keep the translation consistent and Spanish-neutral which is always a challenge, given that there are some clear regional differences between Spain, Mexico and Argentina.
