Hello everyone!
If some developers want to help us fill the Gladys external integrations store, I’ve pulled out via Claude a list of integration ideas to develop, based on the most popular integrations on Home Assistant ![]()
Source: analytics.home-assistant.io (raw data data.json)
Snapshot: 26 July 2026 — 522,056 installations share their integrations, out of 658,145 active (79.3%).
The % below = share of HA installations using the integration.
Methodology
From the 1,349 integrations reported by the analytics, I removed:
- HA’s internal building blocks (
sun,person,automation,script,scene,backup,frontend,default_config,hassio,analytics,recorder,cloud,http…) — no meaning outside HA; - helpers (
input_boolean,input_number,template,group,timer,counter,utility_meter,min_max,derivative,threshold,statistics,schedule…) — the Gladys equivalent is the core’s scenes/variables; - generic domains (
sensor,light,switch,climate,media_player,camera,cover,weather…) — these are entity types, not integrations; - HA hardware itself (
homeassistant_sky_connect,homeassistant_yellow,rpi_power,otbr,hardware…) ; - integrations already present in Gladys (listed below, not to be redeveloped).
What remains is what counts: brands, protocols, and services that could become external integrations of the « Devices » or « Communication » type.
Already covered by Gladys (to be considered for migration to external integrations)

B. « Communication » Type
The
communicationintegration type is part of phase 2 of the external integrations spec (docs/specs/external-integrations.md, section B.15): it is not yet implemented. These integrations are to be prepared/prototyped, not yet delivered.
| Integration | % HA | What it is | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Telegram Bot | 5.0 % | Messaging | Exists in Gladys but deprecated → top candidate for core removal |
| SMTP / e-mail | 1.7 % | Email notifications | |
| IFTTT | 1.6 % | Webhooks / third-party automations | |
| Pushover | 0.9 % | Mobile push notifications | |
| Discord | 0.5 % | Community messaging | |
| ntfy | 0.3 % | Self-hostable push | |
| Twilio | 0.3 % | SMS / calls | |
| Pushbullet | 0.2 % | Notifications | |
| Signal | 0.2 % | Encrypted messaging | |
| Slack | 0.1 % | Team messaging | |
| Matrix | 0.1 % | Decentralized messaging |
C. Additional signal: top HACS (community integrations)
These integrations are not in HA by default — users install them voluntarily. This is an excellent indicator of unsatisfied demand, and a direct model of what Gladys’s external integrations store would look like.
| # | HACS Integration | Installations | Interest for Gladys |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sonoff / eWeLink LAN | 43,045 | |

| 5 | Frigate | 25,321 | |

D. My proposal for « batches » to launch the community
Batch 1 — Low effort, immediate impact (ideal for a first integration)
All local, simple and documented protocols, no OAuth:
- WLED (6.2 %) — HTTP JSON, very visual, rewarding to demo
- WiZ (4.1 %) — UDP, a hundred lines of code
- NUT / UPS (4.3 %) — TCP text
- HomeWizard (3.4 %) — HTTP, fits Gladys’s energy focus
- Yeelight (2.3 %), LIFX (1.5 %), Nanoleaf (1.2 %), Elgato (0.7 %) — local lighting
- SMTP and ntfy — communication, almost trivial
Batch 2 — High volume, real coverage gain
- ESPHome (26.8 %) — the biggest missing one. Entire DIY ecosystem, existing Node client
- Shelly (24.9 %) — ubiquitous in Europe, simple local API
- Android TV Remote (20.8 %) + Samsung TV (17.1 %) + LG webOS (12.4 %) — Gladys has no TV integration
- BTHome (5.2 %) — leverages existing Bluetooth service
- Reolink (10.9 %) / ONVIF (5.0 %) — beyond generic RTSP
- Modbus (3.1 %) and KNX (1.6 %) — one developer unlocks dozens of devices
Batch 3 — Resume deprecated existing1. Tuya — 29.6% at HA, deprecated at Gladys; aim for a local version (cf. LocalTuya, 31,589 HACS installs)
- Telegram — 5.0%, deprecated at Gladys; the spec explicitly plans to remove it from the core in phase 2
Lot 4 — Specific to the French-speaking community
Not very visible in global statistics, but highly valuable here:
- Overkiz (2.9%) — Somfy TaHoma/Connexoon, Atlantic Cozytouch, Bubendorff, Hitachi
- Freebox (1.1%) — presence + Freebox Delta home automation
- Renault (0.7%) — Zoe, Megane E-Tech
- To explore outside the ranking: Delta Dore Tydom, Legrand/Netatmo Céliane, Heatzy, Somfy Protect
Lot 5 — Energy & Solar (strong focus of Gladys, which already has Enedis)
Fronius (1.8%), Enphase Envoy (1.9%), SolarEdge (1.8%), SMA (0.9%), Growatt (0.8%), Forecast.Solar (11.9%), CO2 Signal (12.2%), Tibber (2.0%), Nord Pool (0.9%)
Practical advice for contributors
- Prioritize local over cloud. It’s Gladys’ DNA, and it avoids breakages when manufacturers change their APIs.
- Look for an existing Node library before starting from scratch: many of these protocols already have one.
- Coordinate : one thread per integration to avoid two people developing the same thing.
- Starting point : the official template repo (« Use this template ») + the Node SDK, described in
docs/specs/external-integrations.md. Publish = tag your public GitHub repo with the topicgladys-assistant-integration— no approval necessary.
